Michael Allen Ott: Music
Ride, Cowboy Ride
verse one
Last night I lay down by the campfire.
As the coyotes howled I fell fast asleep.
I dreamed I was at the end of the trail.
I could hear my Master calling me.
chorus
He said "Ride cowboy ride,
across the great divide.
You've been on the trail too long.
It's time to come on home.
Just turn your pony toward the sky
and ride cowboy ride."
verse two
I lifted my eyes toward heaven
and runnin' on the trail ahead of me
was a big white horse with hooves as fast as lightnin'
his rider turned around and said to me.
chorus
"Ride, cowboy ride.
across the great divide.
You've been on the trail too long.
It's time to come on home.
Just turn your pony toward the sky
and ride cowboy ride."
verse three
So when I was awakened from my dreaming
I gave thanks to Him whose love will never fail.
For I know He rides beside me on the prairie
and when we reach the end of the trail.
chorus
He'll say, "Ride cowboy ride,
across the great divide.
You've been on the trail too long,
it's time to come on home.
Just turn your pony toward the sky
and ride cowboy ride.
