Michael Allen Ott: Music
Eight Seconds
verse one
There was a bull rider from out in El Paso
he was headed to hell fast as eagles can fly.
His mama was prayin' that he would meet Jesus,
'cause ridin' bulls for a livin' is a good way to die.
verse two
One day in Laredo, he drew a bull named Diablo,
a maker of widows that no man could ride.
Only three cowboys had been on Diablo
and because of Diablo those three cowboys died.
verse three
He climbed up in the chute and sat down on Diablo,
for the first time in his life, he was shakin' with fear.
A cowboy walked up and climbed over the gate,
and spoke these words in the bull rider's ear.
chorus,
Eight seconds to heaven eight seconds to hell.
Have you ever met Jesus? Do you know Him well?
Before the gate swings open will you take time to pray?
Your eternity's awaiting eight seconds away.
verse four
Lord Jesus save me! the bull rider cried,
just as a cowboy threw that gate open wide.
He made the whistle but never heard the crowd cheer,
'cause the words were still ringin' in the bull rider's ear.
chorus
Eight seconds to heaven eight seconds to hell.
Have you ever met Jesus? Do you know Him well?
Before the gate swings open will you take time to pray?
Your eternity's awaiting eight seconds away.
